Sin of pride

Driving home last night I noticed something on the car in front of me at the red light. It was a family crest…proudly displayed…on a Dodge Neon. Are you kidding me? What was the thinking behind this? Did you use all the other heraldry decals on the castle and suit of armor already and had one left over so you figured “what the hay”? I’m sure your ancestors are very proud of your accomplishments, and are thrilled to see how the bloodline has been maintained to such high standards.

Chivalry is dead, dude. We went from knights to phone agents. Where did we go wrong?

I think we went wrong at the Dodge Neon. Perhaps it was the AMC Gremlin?

Ford Pinto. Now there's a POS car.

True true, but I see your Pinto and raise you a Chevy Monza AND a Corvair.

(I'm not being sexist...I just really have nothing to contribute.)

I see that and raise you a Chevy Nova circa 1980 (my dad had one of these back in the day - a real clunker) and an AMC wagon and Geo Storm.

To sum up: You drive. (Kidding, I like the pithiness--no, I'm not saying pissiness with a lisp--pithiness of your posts. Mine are very unibomberlike in their rambling quality and length!)

My 1967 Dodge Coronet was a rockin' funmobile. Too bad I didn't know how to fix it. It liked to stall at railroad tracks. We parted company when the muffler went. I miss it, oh how I miss its cool coolness.

NICE PICTURE, Bacon Ace!

I would miss a '67 Coronet as well. Hey, at least you had one right?

My favorite car (before my current car which I TOTALLY love) was my first car; a 1988 IROC Z28 Camaro. Ah that was a fun car at 17/18 years old. And no, it did not have T-tops. I hate those things. Actually it was a really rare model with the Trans Am series engione and no T-Tops.

You see, in order to have a car in certain racing circuits a company needs to produce a certain amount of the cars for the pubvlic to be considered a "production car". In this case Cehvy made 500 of these IROCs to be eligible for the Trans Am Racing Series. Ahhhhh wahta a sweet car. I almost killed myself in it twice...about 20 seconds apart from each other :D That was a fun day.

Oh my god. I really need to spell check. Sorry all.

That car sounds almost as dreamy as pumpkin chiffon pie, B.A.!

I say you needn't worry about spelling on blogs. If everybody sticks their grammar and spelling landings each time, cool. If not, that's cool, too. I always feel horrible when I make a typo, and then I think how silly that is (after I delete the incriminating post with the typo, natch). All right: I'm going to do one on porpoise now: Tippo. Wait. Porpoise. AUGH! Where's the delete key. No! Delete is not enough! Control-alt-delete. I'm shuttin' down and restarting!

Thanks for adding my link to your blog, mate.

I don't know anything about Dodge Coronets, but the IROC sounds like fun. Are you from Long Island? There it's all about IROCs and Reeboks.

Hey no problem on the add, you have some funny stuff there.

Ha! No I lived in Watertown MA at the time. And yes, that car was more fun than I had any business owning at the time and age :D Though I did once bring the car to Revere Beach. Ugh If anyone knows the area you'd know why that was a bad idea.

Redbeard76 said...

Never been to Revere itself, but if it's anything like its neighbors Saugus or North Boston, then I can understand why. I take it you got out of there unscathed.

bacon ace said...

You are correct in your comparisons. However it wasn't that I was afraid for my safety, it's the fact that I had a Camaro and was on Revere Beach. I felt so dirty.

What do you say, is NoOprah cashing it in again today? Slackah of the highest order.

Well everyone knows that Mondays at a comic book shop are notoriously the busiest of the week ::rolls eyes::
